Shanthi Johnson

Dr. Shanthi Johnson is Professor and Vice President – Research and Innovation at the University of Windsor, and formerly served as Dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta. Her internationally engaged research program focuses on aging, injury prevention, and social isolation among immigrant and refugee seniors. A Fulbright Scholar, Endeavour Executive Fellow, DAAD Scholar, GIAN visiting professor, and Understanding China fellow, she brings a global perspective to academic leadership.
Dr. Johnson has served on national and international boards including the National Seniors Council, CIHR Governing Council (Vice-Chair), and Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (Past-President). A Fellow of Dietitians of Canada, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the Gerontological Society of America, she has received several honours including RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrants. A committed member of SWAAC, Dr. Johnson actively contributed to the executive committee, supporting initiatives to empower women in academic leadership across Canada.
